How to get involved?
Research shows that children benefit when their parents are involved in their education and school life. Get involved by:
- Volunteering in any of the areas below
- Joining the class parent list
- Joining the P&C
You can also connect with the wider school community through the Mowbray Families and Friends Facebook group.
Alternatively, if you have a skill or talent you wish to share or are interested in helping with the many varied activities, please email the P&C Secretary.
Class contact list
Add yourself to the list so you can be contacted by your Class Parent for P&C related information and to facilitate information sharing and social interaction amongst your class families.
This can be especially helpful for coordinating out of school opportunities for kids and families to get together.
The Class Contact List will only be shared with those on the list and will be used for P&C and classroom related purposes only.

Class parents
The Class Parent is a fun and interactive liaison role between class teachers and families. It’s a great way to get to know your child’s class, your teacher and become involved in the Mowbray Public School community.
The role of Class Parent is to foster social connection amongst your class families, share P&C communications and organise a “thank you” gift for your teacher. Teachers will email parents directly if they need any classroom help or volunteers and parents are encouraged to contact the teacher or school should they have any issues.
Class parent duties
Class parent duties include:
- Share Class Contact List with other families on the list. Contact details should never be shared outside of your class.
- P&C Communications – from time to time you will receive communications from the P&C about events and fundraising, please forward these on to your class. Please encourage participation in school and P&C activities.
- Teacher Appreciation – typically each class will buy a gift for their teacher for World Teachers Day and at the end of the year. Many Class Parents ask for contributions of one amount (typically $10) to be used for both gifts. Contributions are not mandatory.
- Social Connections – you may choose to organise social get togethers among the children and/or parents in your class, this is entirely up to you. An example may be to invite everyone to play after school at Mindarie Park on the last day of term. This can be whatever you choose.
- It is NOT your role to mediate disputes between parents and teachers/school. Parents should go to the teacher/school if they have any issues or concerns.
- It is NOT your role to provide information to families that is available through school communication channels (SchoolStream, newsletter, school email)

Join the P&C
There are a few ways to participate in Mowbray Public School P&C meetings:
- Attend the meetings as an Observer (no voting rights)
- Attend the meetings as a Financial Member (with voting rights)
- Nominate for a position in the Executive Committee and assume a role in the running of our P&C association (with voting rights).
What is it like?
Our P&C is made up of people just like you – parents/carers and community minded people who volunteer to help our school. You don’t need to be a member of Mowbray Public School P&C to volunteer or attend meetings. We do encourage you to become a member of the P&C.
Who can join?
Membership is open to all parents/carers of pupils attending the school, and to all citizens within the school community.
